Any exact instructions?

We picked beautiful strawberries in a farm today (upstate NY)

Is it always infested in bugs?
Do I need to check are will washing be enough?

Slice off the stems ONLY while under running water to make sure no worms from the stems wriggle their way in while cutting off the stem. Then slice each strawberry in half, to check for worms.
I know that not everybody eats strawberries.

Crc has a fruit and vegetable guideline for checking fruits. It’s very easy to follow. Google it.

A good sized chunk must be cut off with the stem, is how I was taught,

Star-k also lists their soap wash method

Prepare a basin with at least two tablespoons of dish soap per gallon of water.
Agitate the strawberries in the solution for 10-15 seconds.
Let the strawberries soak for at least one minute in the solution.
Rinse off each berry.
Repeat steps 1-4 a second time.
Tops should be cut off with a little of the fruit.
No further checking is required.

Yes that’s what we do.
