Has anyone dealt with this with an otherwise healthy baby? My 6 month old does not take bottles normally and we are trying to figure out what the issue is. I’ve been running in circles to doctors and therapists but still haven’t found the issue and solution. Swallowing difficulties has come up as he has a weak swallow. I’m trying to get a swallow test but it’s a long process and In the meantime I’m losing my mind spending all day trying to get him to eat.

If you dealt with this, what were the symptoms? How did you treat? What ended up happening? Please, if anyone has any chizuk or practical advice I would really appreciate it.

Have you reached out to Early Intervention?
They sent an OT who specializes in feeding issues and it helped so much!

Yes but originally they didn’t want to send someone because they said he won’t get approved. Now I called another EI agency and I need to wait. I need help NOW. I’m about to fall apart from 6 months of spending all day, while busy with other kids, trying to get him to eat even just a little.

That's insane! I got it when my baby was 8 weeks old
Maybe say your location and other posters can say which agency came through.
I used Step by Step

The OT was Cathy Collier or Collyer. If you Google her name you'll find her. She's on fb too.
I don't know if she's still in NY, it was 15 years ago

Sorry But that sounds like the same story. What did GI day? Why can’t they get the MBS for her?

Did she have any testing done? Swallow study? Scope to see what's going on? Cleft? Tongue tie? Reflux?

They were trying but scheduled him for Shabbos in two weeks. I’m waiting for a call back but I need something sooner.

Trying to get swallow study but that’s also taking forever. Has an appointment by ent next week. Tried reflux med and it didn’t make a difference and the stronger meds weren’t approved by insurance yet but I’m not inclined to think that’s it.

If you are considering a swallow study, be aware that barium is a metal and is considered toxic to humans. Just something to keep in mind.
