I am genuinely curious.
I consider my 5 year old daughter young still. Yet I am seeing that many of her peers dress as though they are teens.
Curious what the Imamother consensus is!

I voted other.
Yes I keep my daughters in braids well past age 5, but not because I think it's cute (though it is), rather because it's the best hairstyle to protect against lice.
Eta: I don't mean I force braids, but I do encourage the hairstyle.

If she wants pigtails, why ever not? I know girls who wear pigtails well past 5. I think it should be their own choice.

My daughter is almost seven and LOVES pigtails. She wears them all the time. It's her body, her choice. Trends are dumb, do what they want! They have the rest of their lives to conform to "what's done" and "what everyone wears".

I would say it depends on the overall look if her clothes are more mature looking and/or if her elbows and knees are covered it looks a bit silly...

I usually make my 6 year old ponytails or half-ponies, depending on the weather and the occasion. I've never really liked pigtails. Today, however, she tried making herself pigtails but couldn't get them even so I did it for her at her request.

Am I the only one who would love to have a pig tail sheitel? I do it on Purim, because then anything is acceptable. But I love pigtails and wish I could wear them all year round . I guess I never grew up. 40 going on 4.

My 5 year old definitely wears her hair like that sometimes. She's quite little for her age, she's my only girl and I'm keeping her as young as possible for now. She looks adorable!

My 5 year old wears her pigtails low. Add a cute sweat band to keep the front of her hair neat, and it's the cutest look. I wouldn't do high pigtails buns anymore at 5, that's a toddler hair style.
