Can't imagine why you wouldn't be allowed.

well depending on what kind of driver you are, it might be considered an exceptionally dangerous activity Wink

Prohibitions during the 9 days are specific things. Not just what makes us happy and what not.
If eating meat makes someone feel dismal, and eating pizza makes someone over the moon, it does not mean he can eat meat during the 9 days and not pizza.

Check in the Shulchan Aruch what's allowed and what's not. If you or DH are unable to look it up yourself, ask a Rav.

For obvious reasons the Shulchan Aruch does not discuss driving lessons.

On the other hand, there is the general rule that the Nine Days are a time when mazal is turned against us, and we should avoid putting ourselves in dangerous situations, because of the potential increased risk during this period.

One could construe driving lessons as being risky, but if the OP is almost ready for her test, the risk shouldn't be much greater than we run every day by going into a car. In other words, this would seem like it falls into the category of 'normal risk' rather than exceptional risk.

Checking with a Rav is always a good idea, but from my understanding of the concepts involved I don't think there would be a problem.

Why not? I can understand why you wouldn’t want to take the test during the nine days - but what could possibly be wrong with a driving lesson?
