Wondering what people are planning for Shalosh Seudos next week. We are so rarely REALLY hungry for SS but obviously next week we need to eat a serious meal. Ideas?

At least two of those (watermelon and iced coffee with ice cream are definitely on my list too)!

Thinking of making lunch just a bit earlier so we are hungry enough.

Meat for shakosh seudos of shabbos chazon has always seemed to me to be the very definition of gluttony. (If you don't normally have fleishigs.)

We'll have fish, rice, pasta, maybe quiche. Something solid.

Wishing everyone an easy and meaningful fast.

After a heavy meal for Shabbos lunch, I'm not so bothered about what we'll eat. Overstuffing ourselves won't make the fast any easier. I'll probably add a quiche or pasta to the normal menu, but it doesn't have to be a huge meal. My priority is to have plenty of drinks and hydrating foods around all day. Grapes, watermelon, water, iced tea, some fruit juices, and so on.

What is this concept of not being hungry in the evening just because you had a big lunch? I never got that.

I appreciate the ideas on this thread.

just curios, I absolutely love ice coffee/milkshake - trying to watch my calories though...
does drinking a high calorie drink loaded with ice cream make the fast easier?
I'm not a great faster, I usually spend the day in bed...I feel weak and flu like, I usually only fast Tisha B'Av and Yom Kippur due to this...

I fast terribly too. For me what helped in advance is fluids and protein. I know that other people say lower protein higher carbs but my experience is the opposite. In addition to drinking water I find high water-content fruits and veggies like melons help. Iced coffee and tea are also fine as long as they're decaf. Adding ice cream doesn't help me fast better but it's fun.
