To those who suggest kalei tzom or Tylenol or any other medication before the fast - I'm not sure if one can do that on Shabbat.

1) taking medications on Shabbat is always limited to specific circumstances.
2) It would be like hachanah - peparing on Shabbat for something that is after Shabbat.

I'd definitely ask a she'elah before doing it. (Actually, I probably will ask).

I always spend the last few hours of the fast hanging over the sink feeling sick to my stomach waiting to vomit. it's really hard and I'm nervous for weeks before every fast.
it's not about caffeine for me, probably dehydration...

I don’t drink caffeine on a regular basis either. This isn’t about caffeine for addiction.
The Tylenol and caffeine helps prevent a migraine (that usually would come from dehydration and/or hunger).

It's good to have whole carbs, like brown rice or whole grain pasta, for a few days before a fast because they absorb water while cooking. Other food, such as watermelon, grapes, apples, and cucumbers are also good to eat. Some people like to munch on frozen grapes the day before a fast.

So how can the Toronto Kollel be shipping these pills?

I live in NY and buy compounded locally made combination suppositories that need to be refrigerated. I don't know anything about Toronto.
