Does anyone have a recipe or an idea how to make the red cabbage salad that they sell in shwarma places. It is salty and lemony.

I don't know if this is the same, but my MIL is sepharadi and she makes a great sour cabbage salad
purple cabbage
canola oil
salt and pepper
garlic powder
lemon salt (citric acid or melach limon)
I don't have the exact amounts or anything, but its supposed to taste sour/lemony, slightly garlicky, and slippery from the oil. After about a 1/2 hour, the cabbage will start to turn to a lighter purple from the lemon salt. Then you'll know that ur more or less on the right track.
enjoy!

I make one thats
1 bag of purple cabbage (or you could use a fresh head)
1 small red onion
1\2 cup oil ( I use a little less)
1/4 cup of vinegar
1/4 cup sugar (I use splenda)
salt , pepper amd a dash of lemon juice and let it marinade overnight

1 small head of finely shredded red cabbage
juice from 1 lemon (or more if you want it tart)
1-2 table spoon olive oil (pref good quality)
salt and freshly ground pepper
Mix all together, let it marinate for at least 30min or so. You can also add chopped parsley leaves. The trick is in finely shredding so that it's not hard/coarse.

This thread made me hungry before, so I made it
Used one bag of red cabbage
Olive oil
juice of lemons
salt n pepper
I added some slivered almonds and sunflower it gave it a great crunch
And while eating I was thinking if someone wants to add color they can do carrots shredded or sliced.
