Monitor or phone with neighbor if it's local and just for a few minutes.

I could barely make it to my own siblings wedding with little kids. Why on earth would you go to a stranger.

im glad im not the only one. Bh I and dh had a lot of sibilings weddings/sheva brachos/vorts etc when we had small kids. I was working full time and I was overwhelmed with all the simchas. Nobody in the family understood because they didnt have small kids or they were a sahm of one child who loved the break of going to simchas. I went to everything and couldnt function in work, dragging through the days.

Ahhh I misread. I thought she wanted to go and her husband didn’t.

I would let dh go to represent the family and I’d stay home.

I would not go unless I'm very close to the baalei simcha. Even though I have children old enough to babysit, it affects the whole family if I go out for a whole evening. For local weddings (20 min or less travel time) I will sometimes go say Mazel Tov at 10-10:30 PM, which means I'm out of the house for about an hour after most of the kids are settled. But to invest so many hours of the evening--only for very close friends or family.

I’m a mom of young kids. I go to siblings weddings and stop by at first cousins’ weddings. (Admittedly I don’t enjoy these things, so it’s not like I’m depriving myself lol.)
Most people invite me so I won’t feel excluded (or to get a gift.) I don’t feel excluded, I feel happy to be thought of and glad to be doing what I’m supposed to, which is being a mom while acquaintances get married and start their own lives without me in the crowd.

I will always have to pay a price for shlepping out at night - less sleep, less energy, less ability to be mom and worker and wife. That’s not a price I’m willing to pay for acquaintances, and I’m pretty sure it’s not a price they’re even asking me to pay honestly.
