How do I prevent the batter from splashing all over myself and my counters when I pour it in from the bowl to the pan?
I’ve tried going slowly, I’ve tried going quickly. I’ve tried with closed eyes too. Nothing doing. It always splashes all over the place. Any tried and true tricks?

Use a ladle.

(With, or without, your eyes closed)

That’s a good idea but a bit time consuming. Gotta time whether that would take longer than wiping up the splashes. Anything else?

Keep the pan in the sink and pour the batter into there. It's easier to clean the splatter by just spraying the sink.

I like that. Thanks. Guess I’ll need to wash the dishes first.

or make sure the bowl is literally in the pan when pouring, and keep moving up as you pour

I tried that too. I promise. Am I the only one with this issue?

Cover the bowl 3/4, leave an opening and pour from there. Pour on the side of pan not the middle.
Or use a mixing bowl with a spout

I've never had this issue! But I mix with (gloved) hands, just bc its how I make my kugel, and then kinda scrape the batter into the pan with my hands as I'm pouring. So maybe that's why.

I would love a bowl cover with a spout. Is there such a thing?

You can always get a mixing bowl with a splatter spout. I have this small one for dairy cheesecake, just to give you an idea.

There are many options. Find a size that works for you.

Oh this is not actually covered, just has a spout. I wonder if that would make a diff. I’d love a covered bowl and only open by the spout part. Ive searched for such a thing and wasn’t successful in finding one yet.

Covers are usually messy but keep in mind that the deeper bowls prevent splattering too, if you're using a standard mixing bowl that is low and wide, that leaves a lot of room for splattering.

Ok that’s an interesting tip. I was using a low and wide one. Thank you.

A deep one with a spout does help.
Doing messy projects in the sink is great in general too.
