I’ve never heard of zucchini in chicken soup. Is this common? Am I making my chicken soup wrong?

Yes, I peel, because of the texture. It holds up fine.

I have heard of it but think it is gross! The texture is soooo not my taste. My soup is delish without it!

I’m not. I guess it’s an Ashkenazi thing?

Zucchini doesn't give much of a taste to the soup but rather the soup gives a delicious taste to the zucchini.

I used to peel it but then my friend, who is a gourmet cook, once sent me chicken soup and her zucchini was striped and I loved the look. So I do it that way now. It also seems to hold up better, I cook my soup for hours and hours.

I peel it for chicken soup. Soup gives it a rlly good flavor. It doesn’t fall apart when cooking, only when digging through the soup for specific vegetables when serving. We don’t mind because broken zucchini is delicious too 😋

I started chopping it in like 4-6 pieces & holds together nice and easier to serve

Btw poster above re ashkenazi- so my mom doesn’t add zucchini and my mil doesn’t occasionally. Ultra chasidish and ashkanez. I love the zucchini and carrots and add lots to the soup.

Eta and peeled. It’s faster to peel than scrub and I’m not sure I want all that waxing in my soup..,

I don't peel.
I cut it in half lengthwise before slicing and putting it in the soup.

Yes. My family likes eating it, and won't eat with peel on, although looks better in the bowl. Does not fall apart even when cooked long.

I don’t cut anything. I put everything in whole.
