I want to make kugels to freeze for Yom tov but I don't want to go out and I don't have egg noodles. Can I make noodle kugel with other kinds of pasta? Would a savory kugel be better than a sweet kugel? (I think I have the kind that's colored and vegetable flavored, and I probably have regular rotini too). Does anyone have a good savory noodle kugel with onions? Or any other pasta dishes that would freeze well for Yom tov? Thanks!

Pasta generally doesn't taste good once frozen. You can freeze for a week or two but after that it doesn't taste good. That's why the egg noodles are used.

I make kugel from all types of pasta shapes. I always freeze them with no issues. (I’ve even used frozen pasta to make kugel). Sweet & savory work, but with the colored/veggie pasta, I would do savory.

Thanks! I made a sweet one with regular pasta so we'll see! I figure Rosh Hashanah is pretty soon, so it won't have to be in the freezer too long.
