Is maya common enough now that it’s considered a Hebrew name?

It IS a hebrew name. I live in Israel and know quite a few mayas or mias.

IMHO just because a name is popular among Israelis doesn’t make it a Hebrew name.
Maya or Maia is the name of both a major Hindu goddess and a minor Greek goddess. Reason enough not to use it.

I know Miriam's who are called Mia as a nickname. It's not their given Hebrew name though.

In America I don’t think it’s considered a Hebrew name
In Israel I think mayas don’t have an alternate name in Hebrew. That’s what their Hebrew name is

It's very common in Israel - has been popular since the seventies when Israelis first started adopting 'international' names but it's not a Hebrew name per se.
Other related names that are popular here are Mai and Mia.
Maya and Mia can be construed as meaning 'from Hashem' and of course Maya also is Aramaic for water so DL also use these names nowadays.
Personally I feel that there are enough beautiful water related names that are Hebrew so I wouldn't use the name unless I was naming after someone and somehow Maya fit the bill.

Not actually a hebrew name at all, but super trendy and used often in Israeli and MO American circles
