What to wear as a dinner honoree's wife

Sorry to post anonymously for obvious reasons of privacy. What are suggestions for how I should dress as a dinner honoree in the winter in the NY area? I'm plus size and I feel that I always get the styles wrong.

Not even really an honoree's wife because we changed it around to try to take the focus off us but it will be something like that, only a little different.

I don't live there now so shopping will need to be online.

Outfit has to be totally tznius l'mehadrin yet classy.

Sorry no ideas. But tizku l'mitzvos and I hope the headaches (because there usually are some that come with the kavod) are minor and that you enjoy and bring in lots of support for a surely worthy mosad.

My friend's husband was honored, and she wore a classy tiered black dress. It was so simple and elegant. I think tiered dresses are pretty forgiving.
If that's out of your age bracket, you can really go with anything dark (which is usually more slenderizing). Maybe for this occasion you can splurge a little, and shop in a really nice store?
