A family needed urgent medical care in another country, and so left in a rush.
They do not have online access to their postal bank account, but they do have checks.
They do not know the current balance, and want to avoid bouncing a check, but want to take money out to have funds!
One option I think would be for them to sign a power of attorney and have someone go to the bank to set up the on line account.
Does anyone have any other advice, suggestions, or experience?
Any assistance most appreciated!

First tell the family to phone their postal bank in Israel, identify themselves, and ask to speak with a manager. Ask the manager for suggestions. She may be able to send the money to the US directly. Or she will have other ideas.
Spending energy doing a work-around may look suspicious. You want to be perfectly legal in how you accomplish this.
Best wishes for all of you to for good health.
