I just cleaned out my closet after years of wearing just a few frumpy outdated things. I am a yeshivish stay at home mother in the Lakewood area. I am trying to force myself out of a rut, and look nice every day even though I don't always leave the house. I looked into the idea of a capsule wardrobe, when you only have about eight to ten weekday outfits per season. I am in my mid thirties. I want to get suggestions for the basics I need for a wardrobe of 8 weekday outfits for fall and winter. Can anyone help me? Thank you!!!

Go to polka dot and ask them to help you (after yom tov if you want attention from sales staff!)

I’d suggest a basic black skirt (pleated is in)
A denim look (they sell a lot of faux denim)
A print or plaid/houndstooth that goes with solid tops
And another skirt

For tops, I’d get two printed and the rest solid to match the printed skirts.

Pleasure. I got into that capsule idea as well.
I will say that I’ve had success finding winter sweaters for cheaper @ Mango and other online stores that have lasted very nicely.

The idea of a capsule wardrobe is that it can be mixed and matched to form many different outfits

3-4 tops
A basic swing dress
2 cardigans
A sweater vest
2-3 good skirts (I agree with a black pleated and one colored- brown is very in)
Booties
Pretty flats
Stylish sneakers
2 belts
2 statement necklaces

OK, thank you. This is a little more involved for me than the list above. Can you please explain how sweater vests are worn now, Im not good at this. Also can you link an example of a black pleated weekday skirt that's in style, I don't think you mean accordian pleat for weekday? Also, wouldn't a plain black short a-line be a basic in a capsule (frum) wardrobe? I had that on my list, assumed the pleated would be second, the denim type third, and a brown skirt fourth. That would give variety for tops...
And thank you again for your help

I do a capsule wardrobe too. I dress sophisticated and it's amazing how one can look sharp and fresh every day without having so many different outfits.

I have a black midi almost maxi skirt which goes with a couple knit tops. A polo neck which goes with 2 printed skirts.

I got a nice knit dark dress.

I still want to add another 2 knit tops and I think I'm done. I think 8 outfits is a lot... Especially if you don't leave the house every day.

This is a great skirt to start with!

Inexpensive and wears very very well. I’m 5”4 and the 27” is 2” or so past my knee. If ur tall get the 30”

No prob! Do u have “problem areas” that u rather not display? Sweater vests r in and very cute. They would like great with this skirt cuz it’s hugs and then flares so u won’t look shapeless. Cropped is in, if you want to hide ur stomach u can go longer. Wear with black shell or turtleneck.

You can buy a few cheap floral dresses on Amazon or shein and one nice black sweater vest that goes over them. https://www2.hm.com/en_gb/prod......html Get a smaller size because it looks baggy.

Wide plates. All the frum stores have it.

A-line is classy but pleated is more trendy. I have both.
