Different people hold by different things. I would ask them.

Not without their permission and asking a sheila.
You can heat up the food double wrapped.

I'd be very upset if someone did that to me.

You shouldn't be asking us; you should ask your hosts. It's their microwave.

With their permission, sure.
Without asking them, no way.

No.

If they are ok using it for both they would have give you instructions for use for either dairy or meat.

Kashering a microwave is easy.

But NO NO NO NO NO. You still shouldn't do it without their permission.

Not without permission.
Just to add I have an expensive microwave/ convection oven that I was told can not be kashered. If someone puts Fleishig in it, it will go in the garbage.

We hold that it can’t be kashered back and forth. If you were my guest and did that, I would be furious! We wouldn’t be able to use it anymore and would need to buy a new one.

Some people hold that its really easy to kasher a microwave but others hold that it cant be kashered at all. So if you decide to make it fleishig they may consider it treif

I would also be very uncomfortable if you heated double wrapped milchig food in my fleishig microwave. I would probably end up replacing it.

So I shouldn’t put a double wrapped fleishig food in it also?

Ask THEM, not US.

It's their microwave.

As a guest, we generally cannot make ANY changes to our host's home without their prior permission.

We should not rearrange furniture.
We should not adjust decor.
We should not invite other guests.
We should not discipline the host's children.
We should not bring in food of a hechsher they do not approve of.

If you're not sure, ask. If you can't ask, don't do it. They should return to a home that is just as they left it.

Why? You can heat double wrapped food in a treif microwave as well. If it's double wrapped, it's ok.
