I really can’t pay it now, it’s $1,400 - due to high deductible
Will it affect my credit?

Yes. Can you instead make a payment plan for $50 a month?

Of course it will. Its an unpaid bill.

If it goes to collection, they can sue and obtain a judgment against you. Place a lien against your home, or garnish your wages.

But why on earth would you let it get that far.

Negotiate and set out a payment plan instead. Suggest $100 a month for 12 months, no interest, they knock off $200.

Do not ignore it. Call them and set up a payment plan as small as you want. They will usually knock something off that way as well.

We had a high medical bill and the hospital knocked of 20% just for asking and paying it. If that's helpful try that, if you need a payment plan ask for that. Other times (if it's a hospital) they may have a fund avail for ppl in financial need. It usually requires submitting taxes etc.
