I use my own name frequently. I also have pen names - Some that are pretty known and others that no one knows. I use pen names to protect others privacy and as not to hurt people who may see themselves in my articles (e.g. students.) I'm constantly working through my natural privacy and my desire to own my work and ideas.

My DH often edits my work when I ask for help. Sometimes I'll find him scrolling through my stories on my computer. Some family does, some don't.....

You know who never reads my writing?? Me! I have a hard time reading my own work and that stops me from buying the magazines.

That's funny. Does it depend on whether or not you used a pen name?

I wondered about this because a few years ago I had something published. I used a pen name and told no one, not a single person. I kind of liked having my own little secret. Smile

Depends on the editor! Honestly, I've had mostly wonderful experiences. I also respect their feeling and needs and try to be easy to work with....
