Whenever I try to diet- Shabbos seems to be my undoing . I usually gain back whatever I lost during the week.
Also- sometimes "shabbos" includes Friday and Sunday.
Please tell me what diet you have tried that is compatible with shabbos. I don't mind not eating cholent or challa, but I want to be able to wash at least on matza.
Thinking of looking into the fast metabolism diet. Is that compatible with shabbos?

Wash on whole grains. Limit portion size. Avoid foods you avoid during the week, e.g. white flour, sugars. Have ready food for snacking - seasoned air popped popcorn, cut up fruits, veg, maybe some whole grain crackers and pure peanut pb or the like.
Hatzlacha!

Yes, the fast metabolism diet is very compatible with Shabbos. Since it has three phases and the third phase which is on the weekend, allows you to have quite a variety of foods it really works with Shabbos.
I've been doing it for almost a year now and am down 67 pounds! Good luck!

While I personally have a heter not to wash, I’m happy to eat the same food everyday that I eat on Shabbat. I eat low carb, real food. Animal protein, low carb veg.
Your undoing is not Shabbat, it’s good that you don’t react well to.
Happy to share the PDF that I think is a good way to start.

I make myself small whole wheat challah rolls.using honey instead of sugar. No more eating delicious white pieces of challah unlimited. One small roll and I'm done.
Lots of chicken soup. Grilled vegetables. Plenty you can eat.

Really any diet that doesn't excuse major food groups.
You can wash on a small whole wheat pita. Just count the calories. Chicken, fish, vegetables in many different forms. All compatible with weight loss.

I eat healthy, low carb and I wash on shabbos. I eat the required amount and that's it. I don't have dips though.
I also have 2 spoons of potato kugel.
Sometimes I even, gasp, have a piece of dessert.
I have tracked my weight and every Sunday those extras on shabbos (the matza and sometimes a dessert) pop the scale up a lb but by Monday Tuesday it's back to losing again. I weigh every Friday.

Are you doing this on your own just by following/reading the book?

I personally don’t wash on Shabbat since wheat and oats give me pain
I basically live a low carb lifestyle
I eat 3 meals a day
On Shabbat I eat special protein and veg
Things like steak, mushrooms, and a fancy salad
Cheesecake for breakfast
Also a misnomer about low carb living
Calories still count
So, although I try to eat the fattiest protein I also limit extra fat I may add to my veggies
Eating this way I lost 7lbs over Tishre
