5 year old son is sensory. He gives me a hard time with all his parents that have buttons, or when he feels pants is too tight. Does anyone have any suggestions for pants that are very soft, maybe leggging material that are more comfortable? Right now he is going between two pairs of pants.

If too tight is an issue, this might not work because it's really skinny. But works for my ASD child. Its really stretchy and comfy.
Old navy ballerina skinny jeans. (Just FYI- Their karate skinny jeans are wider, but too stiff)

target girl leggings! But they're literally leggings (so like crotch area might be too tight if he's not very skinny) longer shirts should help that

My OCD son can’t have pants that are fitted because he’s so sensory, but we found the kiddichic regular pants or the old navy regular cut pants to be tight enough that they didn’t fall off but loose enough for him to tolerate.
We also found that layering with long Johns (soft almost fleecy yet super thin long underwear from Amazon) beneath the pants is a lifesaver during the winter months both to keep him warm and to help with the sensory bit.

My super sensory child will only wear what H&M calls cotton jersey joggers. They’re not super nice pants, a bit baggy, but I’ll take pants over no pants. I’m not sure if they always have them in stock. Search their site.

How about joggers?
Especially fleece joggers (will be sold closer to winter)
Carter’s and old navy.

Leggings and girls leggings are supper tight, op you mentioned your son does NOT like pants too tight.
Knit joggers are soft material, not too tight, and have an elastic waist. So that might work

He doesn't like stiff material. He finds them too tight. He actually loves leggings.
