Do you think small business owners should promote other small businesses? I think its so off-putting when small business owners come on Instagram and show all their clothing and purchases from "big" businesses, such as zara, hm, amazon etc...I feel like you want me to support your business, why don't you support others. On the other hand, when small business owners come and show what they are wearing/buying from other small businesses, and especially when they say they aren't getting paid to do so, it makes me want to support their business.

Usually those influences are getting kickbacks from those big stores for purchaes through their links.
Also if they would promote expensive clothing that would bother many too.

People like to know where they purchased their stuff from. So they mention it.
I don't think they're going out of their way to promote Zara and h&m.

This. They're not promoting these businesses, they're promoting themselves.
Instagram has become one giant commercial.

This. They’re called affiliate links. If you purchase something through their link, they earn money.
