I know life is not meant to be fair but the abrupt end of our subsidized health insurance is driving me insane.

We went from paying a low monthly premium to be on Fidelis- widely accepted where we live. Pays for everything 100% including dental and mental health.

To now (my husband got a job) paying over a month of my husbands salary to premiums - it’s about 2/3 months of work for me😩! And still having to pay to see any doctor, copay and deductible at every procedure and they don’t cover many things. Most of the doctors I reached out to so far don’t accept it.

Make this make sense. I truly understand why ppl commit fraud. I don’t have it in me but I understand it because this is so beyond unreasonable. We will literally be pooor or my kids won’t have the healthcare they need. And this is with my husbands advanced degree and working like a maniac.

A lot of people I know have their kids on CHIP and the adults have private. The income level for state insurance where I live for a family of 5 is almost 100k.

Do you qualify for a subsidized insurance plan under Obamacare? It may be cheaper than purchasing through an employer. The subsidy is based on income and family size.

We priced it out and it’s the same for an even worse plan.

Nope. I literally have to keep telling myself not to panic.

My kids each have some special medical needs (Bh nothing crazy but normal things that require ongoing care and procedures)

I was on my parents plan and Bh scrambled to switch off before I had my first- otherwise it would’ve cost me 7,000 + in copays. Didn’t pay a dime since being on fidelis. Idk how I’ll have more kids and afford life.

I totally understand you. My dh is making most of his money on a corporation (which we will pay heavy tax for) so that I can still get chp (and my kids dont use the Dr. much). I just cant see myself dealing with this whole health insurance situation. Medicaid is so much easier and better. Health insurance in another tax and you still have to pay it sucks.

If you're in NY, have you considered child health plus for the kids? That's for children not eligible for Medicaid.

Another tax. Ha ha. It’s called paying for a service. Tax is what working people pay to subsidize your Medicaid.

K I’m just going to edit here and calm my hysterics- I will Iyh be able to afford life. Bh Bh. But we want to buy a house, I want to go on vacation at some point maybe, I want to be able to buy a new Shaitel (mine is over a decade old). Maybe go out for our anniversary. I want to feel like I don’t have to hesitate before taking my kid to the doctor and that medical expenses aren’t a huge percent of our spending.

Between that, paying off student debt and our increased tuition our actual budget is staying at the student spending level (aka tight). Just with a husband that’s never home.

It’s not though. U would never pay for such bad service by choice and costs are wildly inflated

I’m sorry, is your question why is healthcare so expensive when you’re not on Medicaid? Yes, duh. This is what everyone has been saying for over a decade and the reason why Obama tried so hard to push through some semblance of reform.

I mean, welcome to America? Where you work so hard and all of it goes to taxes and healthcare and crazy tuitions and an astronomical mortgage.

Not true. Obama tried so hard to redistribute money - take from the middle class and give it to the poor.

Marketplace insurance is the absolute worse option out there! Nobody with any other option should go this route! I don't wish it on my worst enemy!

Obama! ObamaCare is the bane of my existence. Because my husband and I are self employed without any employees, thanks to Obama we can only by insurance from the "Marketplace" which most decent doctors in NY do not accept. We now go to the same clinic as everyone on medicaid but we have to pay $220000 a year (for a couple) for that privilege and then we have to still pay for everything because we have $6000 deductible each! It is a nightmare finding half way decent specialists. There is a special place in hell for Obama

Can you or your husband cut your hours? How did you disqualify entirely from Medicaid all at once? Usually your income goes up slowly so you can keep the kids on with a copay.

nope. Insurance premiums are so high because healthy people need to subsidize unhealthy people’s plans. Because it’s illegal for insurance cos to refuse to insure them. 10 years ago insurance wasn’t anywhere near as expensive.

And this is how Obama redistributed money. Your paying these high fees because you're paying for other peoples free plans.

You know what? I could even live with that if I too could get decent coverage. I need some specialized care and it was a nightmare to find a decent Dr. who did not sneer at my "plan", not to mention the astronomical deductible I have to pay. Most specialists who take medicaid won't even take my plan and it is the only plan I am ALLOWED to buy Crying
