Spin off of forgiving teachers thread
I think I’ve for the most part let go of any hurt feeling caused by teachers.
But what does linger is a sense of self doubt that I can’t seem to shake.
From teachers who didn’t see value or potential in me.
It’s not like I had no teachers who believed in me. I did have a few who were my champions and thanks to them I am who I am today.
But in moments of weakness I can’t stop thinking about the others…. The ones who didn’t respect me, didn’t value me, didn’t think I had anything to contribute. As much as I know logically they are wrong, I still find it hard emotionally to overcome.
How do you finally get rid of the sense of shame and self doubt? The voices inside that say, who are you to think you could ….?

I had a professor in college who told me at the beginning of senior year, "You know you can't graduate with X major at this point, right?"
I showed him!! (Ok, my grades weren't great but still. I did it.)

Point is, everyone will have their own opinion of you but you can create your own destiny. Don't attribute to these negative people the ability to tell you the truth about yourself.
