I know what she means. I voted B because it looks more real and vivid. But I actually like A's imagery better. Any way to make them more crisp and realistic, as popping out on the page as B?

I hope I'm explaining myself!

You probably ARE explaining yourself... to people who understand graphic design lol. If you zoom in, A's imagery is plenty sharp. I don't know what you mean by popping out on the page?

Thanks! But then would you feel tricked when you hit a scene like B in the book?

It’s *a* scene. I don’t like horror/scary/haunted. A is telling a story a piques my curiosity, what is the story it’s telling? It draws me in. I want to know the story that the path down the dock reveals, why the holes represent…

I like A more, but I think the font of the title on B says "horror/thriller" much more than the A font. I wonder what the poll would be with A cover and font from B.

Yep, thanks for putting my thoughts into better words! A tells more about the story/journey as a whole. B is an emotional snapshot of the most intense moments, but plays off of the "horror" idea than the idea of the story itself. Once you read the back cover and realize that the adult and child silhouettes are of the same person, A is even cooler. Libby facing away from her inner child. It's cool.

Interesting. I'm not sure it would fit, but who knows.

I'm confused... A is black and white.

Like the title and authors name stand out more on B as well as the back cover. But I think the image of A is more classy.

Does the black and white bother you? Would you be less likely to pick up the book because of that?

I picked B because it looks scary and I love horror books lol. Whichever you choose, I soooo want to read!

“A” looks more of a thriller

“B” looks more of horror

1. I’d def go with A even if the book contains some horror as well because B looks completely in the horror genre.

2. Like the look of A, more ‘current’.

3. If you do go with A, I just want to point out that the little girl profile (I assume its supposed to be a girl), actually looks like a little boy.

Amazing, you rock!

Cover A represents the content better but cover B draws you in more.

Same. I don't read horror stories. But a story about a personal journey, which is what cover A portrays, I might pick up.

This is exactly what I was going to say!

Nothing to add beyond that I am excited to read it.
Horray for you!

Agree that I like A better, B seems too scary, but B's graphics look crisper and more appealing.
Very exciting either way!
Are you the same Naomi Shulman who writes frum kids books?

I write the ones for Judaica Press. There’s a different Naomi Shulman who writes the ones for PJ Library.

Option A fascinates me, especially with the shadows of the faces there, but I'm not sure it represents the story. I'd probably pick it up thinking it was a memoir, like maybe a holocaust book...Option B definitely gives over more of the horror/thriller vibe. I like it a lot, except the font of the title seems a bit cliche to me.
Definitely like both covers, but I'd vote for B with a cleaner title font.
