To our dear teachers who are
Caring for our children
Handling
All situations with aplomb
Never losing sight &
Understanding that
Kids
Are precious

Thank you
Here is a rough draft. I’ll try to fix it later

Just write in straightforward prose. Tell the teacher something specific that you appreciate, if you can.

Thanks!

I’m looking for something along the lines-

From (child’s name) and her parents, a BIG Thank You!
For your smile, your kindness, and all you do

May we each enjoy our fun-filled vacation,
With chocolate coins and donuts giving us a yummy sensation!

Thank You to our Creator for saving us these 8 miraculous nights,
For giving us happiness, family, and the Festival of Lights

Wishing you and your family on this wonderful, joyous occasion,
A very Happy Hanukkah with much celebration!

This is a rough draft, anyone know how I can fix it better?

No, you do not. You have every right to write a simple but sincere prose note expressing your gratitude and good wishes. This isn't an assignment for literature class. Please believe me when I tell you that a sincere prose note, simply expressed, comes off a thousand times better and is appreciated vastly more than a cheap jingle.

As a former teacher, I appreciated the sincere prose a lot.

I think that I shall never find
A note obnoxious as a rhyme.
So why do imas all insist
On such a phony shtick as this?
Why can't they ever be sincere
And write in prose that's straight and clear?
To use somebody else's work
As if it's yours? Then you're a jerk.
Don't bother cudgeling your brain,
Just state your feelings, poshut (plain).
Your honest thoughts, simply expressed,
Will leave the reader most impressed.

For the record, I have never, ever, send anyone a thank-you note in rhyme. Or a note of congratulations or sympathy or happy birthday, unless the rhyme is preprinted on a commercial card, in which case I add my own two cents' worth--in PROSE.

I have seen a few clever verse MM inserts, but only a few. When well done, these add to the fun. They are, unfortunately, seldom well done.

Some tasks need to be done no matter what, and if they're done poorly, at least they're done. Putting away laundry or toys comes to mind. Then there are projects that have to be good, otherwise, there's no point to doing them. Greetings in verse are a superb example. No, I take that back. If it amuses someone and lifts their spirits to compose doggerel verse, there's value to that. But, like really bad singers, they ought not to inflict their efforts on others who never wished them any harm.
