I’m in the state of NJ if it makes a difference.

Disability technically is given from 4 weeks before you are due.

Is there any way that you are allowed to have any income while receiving those benefits.

Meaning, can I stop working officially but come in for a few hours here and there as needed and get paid just for those hours?

Does anyone know?

Officially you can't work at all.
I've done a few hours here and there and my boss added those hours to dates after I came back from maternity leave.

You are allowed to be paid for PTO making up the difference of what you get paid and what the state pays.

Don't want to steal the thread but when you get paid for disability, does it affect your boss? I work for a frum person and don't want to apply for disability when I'm due if they will have to pay for me not being there... Or does it really all come from the gov
I'm in NJ too

No. The employee pays it into the Disability Fund

So it's really coming out of my money that they take off my paycheck?

I was under the understanding that disability payments only kick in oncw your PTO is paid out. There is also a one week wait from when you begin until they pay out. But it's possible my info is outdated. They usually ask if you are getting other income, I believe then you are not eligible. You can probably find current info on their website

I don’t have officially pto. I take off when I need to and don’t abuse the privilege…
So it wouldn’t even apply.

I know with unemployment you were able to cut back hours and get some unemployment I was wondering if disability works the same way

I didn’t know that.

Disability can start after you use your pto
My office requires us to use accrued pto before disability starts.

At one point I had additional disability where it made up the difference between govt disability snd my salary. My employer paid for it.
