Thanks. The thing is its not "govt assistance" as in, we are on multiple different programs. We are not. It is just healthcare.

There should be a graduated system. It makes no sense to kicked off completely from one dollar to the next.

Op, it doesn’t pay to get off programs in the US today.
Middle class get people punished. Stay low income.

Doesn't the ACA provide a graduated structure of assistance for those not on Medicaid?

Congrats on your raise. May you continue to thrive.

But its pretty darned funny to complain about "communism" or "socialism" when your complaint is actually that Uncle Sam isn't reaching into his pocket to give you enough.

So what do you suggest?

That we stop all Medicaid for kids. If you can't afford healthcare, too bad.

Or that we give free healthcare to everyone?

No ACA does not help because the marketplace plan have insanely high deductibles.

And I am NOT complaining that Uncle Sam isn't giving me enough. I am complaining that Uncle Sam's system of distributing benefits makes no sense. Uncle Sam should have a graduated system of removing citizens from Medicaid, so that people do not land up in a situation like mine.
I don't want argue politics nwo.

Are you happy with your work-life balance? Is it an option to not work Fridays and keep your old salary with the added responsibilities? Or something to that effect.

The point is that Uncle Sam wants you to grow to middle class and then gives you h*ll from there on...making you regret that you went past poor class.
That’s the start of communism.

How about that poor people should get assistance, but the middle class gets their own set of benefits instead of paying their bare bottom in taxes?

I would suggest affordable insurance based on income, if that makes sense?

No, we want there to be a GRADUATED system of assistance. For example, every $5K raise you get, you pay an addtional 10% in healthcare premiums, so that your are not suddenly left hanging

For example, in my case, I am paying $150 a month premium for Medicaid. I get a $3K raise and my kids are suddenly uneligible for Medicaid, and need to enroll in a Marketplace plan, with $150/mth premium, and a $14,000 deductble.

I am now $11K in the red due to my raise. Get it??????

Many people are in denial how our socialist government encourages unemployment and punishes those who work hard and are successful.

Do you even realize how drastically our healthcare system dropped in quality because of this?
Gone are the days of amazing doctors. It’s all clinics today, factory style.

First of all, it is a graduated system. Really low incomes pay nothing and then as your income rises you start paying more and more until you get kicked off completely.

Also, you're only 11k in the red IF you meet your deductible. If your kids are relatively healthy then you shouldn't get anywhere near your deductible. If chas vshalom you have one or more children who has high medical bills then you have a problem.

I also pay a lot for health insurance. I feel your pain. But I think the real problem is that our health insurance costs exploded since Obama care. I used to pay much less in premiums and the deductibles and co-pays were also lower.

You can use your gross income minus contributions to Traditional 401k/IRA, but not Roth 401k/IRA.
I know someone that did it this year in NJ. She sent in documentation showing her deposits to her IRA along with her application.

Hatzlocha!

No, it is NOT a graduated system, becacuse again, you get kicked off from one dollar to the next. That is in essence not graduated.

Even, if I do not meet my deductible, I only have my $3k raise as buffer. The min I go over that amount I am in the red.

I am not sure you understand communism (or socialism).

Can you all not just focus on the true issue here and leave OP alone regarding world affairs? It’s obvious what she meant.
