I heard that bobov 45 and 48 are making shalom and the Asifa is tonight in the main shul.
I took it as humor. Sad humor. (For those that don’t get it- which is the main shul?!)

Please help me understand
They let everyone know that there’s a big asifa tonight and the rabbi said to come.
So people travelled in from all over the tristate area for this asifa Bec if the rabbi says to come you listen.
And it was to raise money, no secret hush hush anticipation was needed.
It’s just wrong to me on so many fronts. It seems so deceptive and manipulative to do that.

It wasn't "secret hush hush", and there was no deception involved. My husband is Bobov, and he already told me last week that there was hoing to be a fudraiser motzai shabbos. I believe an invitation came in the mail like they do for all other melaveh malkah/dinner/fundraisers.
Someone decided to have fun, photoshop a picture (and not very well), send it around and spread a rumor. Probably some bored bochur or something.

So was my husband the only one who knew it was another fundraiser and decided not to show up? I highly doubt that!
