So my founding father question was too vague. I should have phrased it as which is the only early President to not be from Virginia

It was David Farragut in the Battle of Mobile Bay, 1864.
True history nerds may enjoy googling the Farragut family's naval history-his father was of Spanish extraction and fought on our side in the Revolutionary War.

So early 19th century wars in America include 1812, Texas war for independence, and battles between settlers and Native Americans.
In Europe there were the Napoleonic wars in the early years of the century.
