Is an insinkerator scary with children?

we had this growing up... honestly I dreaded the loud noise and always pictured myself (mistakenly) sticking my fingers in... okay I'm imaginative. but still a no no for me

I think those became obsolete with the advent of strong cordless vaccums. My house has one and we never use it.

I actually love mine! I usually vacuum instead of sweeping because I find that it does a more thorough job. When you have a few floors and don't have to shlep the actual machine up and down the stairs... it's so convenient. You can get a separate set of hoses and attachments for each floor if you want.

I also have two washing machines in my laundry room so I spend a lot less time there. Only one dryer though... I wash one load that goes into the dryer while a 'hang to dry' load is in the other washing machine. It's a blessing!

I put an outlet in each closet for charging phones. So wires are out of sight.

Broom niche in kitchen. Maybe a Sweepovac, which is not a central vac, more like an in-the-wall dustpan: http://www.sweepovacusa.com/
A place to dump things or put down a package both inside and outside the entry.

We had an insinkerator for many years but when it broke I didn't replace it and don't miss it all that much. We have a compost bin for food waste anyway.

Definitely install USB and USBC outlets.

I love my floor level lighting

I regret whatever I didn’t do smart switches for.

Under counter lighting is a must

I have a great kitchen drawer that I designed to fit all my paper goods. Had it made to measure. 3 compartments for cutlery. 1 for plates and bowls, 1 for napkins and 1 for plastic cups. It’s really easy and accessible for the kids.

My garbage pullout is a big cabinet door with the toe-kick portion of the cabinet removed. I then have a nice size bin on wheels that goes in there. Far more convenient the the traditional garbage drawers with those 2 tiny bins that are stuck in there.

I enjoy my custom vents. Not plain white. Match my paint color and preferred cutout design.

Bathroom medicine cabinets should all be recessed into the tiling. Do not surface mount. And make sure the electrician brings power there so you can mount one with built in lighting.

If you can do in floor heating it’s amazing.

Invest in good insulation. Spray foam ideally.

Each closet should have a light switch and bar light in it.

Test the color on the spotlights before you installs they come in various degrees of warmth and the only way you can tell what works is by turning them on. Don’t feel bad about asking the electrician to do it right.

Instant hot water if you are a coffee drinker or like it for baby bottles. Gets built in by the sink. Can’t be used on Shabbos.

Make a specific place where you will keep brooms and mops.

Feel free to PM me if you want pic examples of my kitchen drawers.

Good luck and enjoy the process
