I see recipes calling for grated onion or raw grated potatos. Anyone know how to make good burgers without these? TIA

I have a hard time with seemingly the easiest things. I buy premade burgers, actually, but before they were easily available, I found that the more stuff I added, the more like they were to fall apart.

I too never add any fillers - I find it ruins the meat ... I simply mix chopped meat with black pepper, garlic powder, oregano shape - slice onions then broil (during the year I might add some barbque sauce)

I know some people use oatmeal as a filler, but I really don't like the way it tastes. I also use only meat & maybe egg.

the fillers are simply so you can use less meat for more people right? I also find that they fall apart, cm. although it helps if you cook the burgers all the way before serving them.

During the year I add some matza meal to help hold it together. And an egg of course.
During Pesach I would either do strictly meat and egg or add a bit of potato starch. I don't know if the starch is really necessary. If I could get away with it I would chop onions and add them, but my kids... Truth is they wouldn't go near any foods with chopped meat anyway. Picky, picky eaters.
