Poems come out
From in our hearts
Therapy
And also art
They don't relate
But then, they do
Transmitting, me
Receiving, you
A knowing chuckle
Wise, wry grin
The taste of soup
The other's in...
Familiar.

Some really cute and funny poems, love this thread.
this is actually very relatable, but some of the short poems reminded me of this one:

The world is so full of a number of things,
I'm sure we should all be as happy as kings.

(by Robert Louis Stevenson)

The toddler went up three steps
To the landing
Turned around
Took off her shoes
And socks
And came back down,
To turn around
Go up, and put them on,
Then start again;
Her face as serious as such a task deserves.
I smiled at her, seeing a sister in spirit
And went to my car for my own circuit
As she smiled back.

To which James Thurber added, "and you all know how happy kings are."

There once was a mother who lived in a shoe
(Or a house that smelled like one)
She had so many children who never knew what to do
(So they would say, "Mommy, I'm bored." or ask "Mommy, what should I eat?")
So she gave them some broth
(Which they refused, because they had chicken soup for Melave Malka already and can't chas veshalom eat the same thing twice in a row)
Without some bread
(Because nobody has patience to wash)
And spanked them all soundly
(But only in her mind, because spanking is abusive)
And sent them to bed.
(But they didn't go, so they are all still in the living room playing with Magnatiles and mentchies and Ticket to Ride.)

My mind is twisty turny
Like a roller coaster
But I hate roller coasters
Because when my stomach drops I panic
So maybe like a knotted string
Like the ones in my arts-and-crafts drawer
Which are twine and embroidery floss and yarn all together
With a crayon stuck in for good measure
And alternately makes me overwhelmed
Or ambitious
Because untwisting knotty threads
Is far more appealing
Than cooking dinner.
Again.

My spoon collected the last of the cereal
Leaving some tablespoons of milk
Iā€™m not one to waste, so I refilled the bowl
But I must have shaken the box one too many
Leaving the top cornflakes painfully dry
And so with a sigh I poured in some more milk
And devoured the excellent combo again
Till my spoon collected the last of the cereal
Leaving some tablespoons of milk
So lonesome in my big blue bowl
And that is why I am late to work

This is way too relatable for this thread. Laugh

Sometimes I say
"Today's a sad day."
I don't apologize, don't run away,
Just sit in the sadness and let it stay.

The very next day can be just fine,
I do what I do, make good use of time.
I work, I mother, I cook (and rhyme!)
It is the truth, I'm feeling fine.

Grief can be strange, you know
Never sure what emotion will show
Sorrow or joy, I let it be
I just sit with whatever I feel in me.
