First time I have such a couch. Thanks to Covid.
Anyway, kids like to eat on it and I’m not the type of mother to disallow it (as long as they eat..). So I end up spot cleaning with a bit of water it every once in a while.
Now after owning it for about 5 months it’s smells. Like really smells. I tried deodorizing- I left both baking soda and carpet refresher in it overnight and then vacuumed it out. Still smells. Sprayed in perfume… cleaned with a carpet cleaner…
I’m out of ideas.
Can anyone suggest?

You think covid caused your couch problems?
Anyway, pull off all the cushions, and check in the crevices to see if some organic matter such as food is wedged in there.
Then I'd try something like Nature's Miracle.

Have it professionally cleaned by a carpet and upholstery cleaning company. Once cleaned, keep it clean with Folex and Febreeze Fabric unscented (you don't want it to mask smells but to deodorize).

Haha. To be clear- because of Covid and all of its lovely delays this was the only couch in stock.
Good idea. The pillows don’t come off all the way.
But I think the smell is from the water I use to spot clean it.

Does it make sense to need to get it cleaned professionally every 6 months?

If the kids eat on it, then that may make sense.
