holes in the lids? The covers for styrofoam cups did not have holes in them, my new paper hot cups have holes in the lids. Are there alternatives?

The Best Bev insulated hot cups (white with blue and pink diagonal stripes) come with such covers. (Not their rippled insulated hot cup versions that come in red and brown - those come with holes in the covers (and a few in every package somehow manages to leak too).

What do you mean by holes. In the lids... I thought all hot lids have a little hole to let steam out so pressure shouldn't build.

Some come with a big round hole and some come with a pinprick hole and a flap that you can decide when to open.

Just interested: has the price of disposables skyrocketed in other countries or only in Israel?

The prices have skyrocketed like crazy. And they are only bringing in the collapsible garbagey disposable plates and aluminum pans, in general.

I’ve spoken to a few storekeepers and they say it’s only getting worse. Shipping charges are crazy.
We should expect 30% increase on pesach shopping this year over last. Sad

So, do I understand that that price for disposables has risen tremendously not only in Israel but in other countries too?
Why is that?
I thought it was a law passed in Knesset in Israel that prices of groceries and food will rise enormously? So far it's disposables, sweet drinks and I think cigarettes that have gone up.
Personally, I don't mind that sweet drinks price has gone up - it'll perhaps decrease peole's sugar intake as it's known that these sweet drink have a very large amount of sugar in them. As for cigarettes, that's also good b/c it's very dangerous to one's health.
Though, in a way I pity the cigarette addicts and chain smokers b/c an addiction is very difficult to get weaned off.
But disposables???
They started the outrageous price rise with that. Probably b/c they know that so many people use disposables - in private homes, schools, institutions, Kupat Cholims...
Really not fair. There are people who are very dependent on them. Not every family owns a dishwasher.
And like you mentioned, my husband and I couldn't believe it when we bought hot cups which had tripled in price, TO SEE THAT THE CUPS WERE LEAKING! meaning that we had to use 2 cups one in the other. Yes, and the plates are like paper thin and crack so easily.

What is the talk here about foam hot cups? In Israel, disposable hot cups started off as white foam cups, then it got fancier - the foam cups disappeared and the colored with design hot cups appeared in various sizes. I haven't seen foam cups in years.
Do they still exist?
