I'm pretty sure you can't, unless you use a catheter. He has to make it come out.

Can we have more details? Age, potty training history, how long since he's gone, how you've been handling this...

He does not do it when you want to? Maybe he does not need to.

The doctor said his bladder is about to rupture, because he has been holding in the pee for a fee days? See a specialized physiotherapist, they can help if it is a serious incapacity of coordinating the detrusor muscle with the sphincters.

how old? how long? any other symptoms (ie pain, fever)? are you sure that it's being held in?
