It’s not horrible, it might just be too busy. Unless the room is open, huge and airy.

I dont necessarily want that much contrast, but I do want a light background with subtle abstract squiggles of other colors here and there.
The Tambour look is more of a solid wall with little variation.

You should really ask a painter with experience. I think it can be pretty if done right.
