I was in Philly a few days ago to be Menachem Avel a friend of mine.
She is relatively new in the city but the ENTIRE COMMUNITY was there for her. Literally the ENTIRE community. From every part of the spectrum, every subgroup, from Yeshivish to Chabad to Young Israel, all of them. Not just "her" group. Not just the ones who lived right there.
They came to be Menachem Avel on their way to work, they sent gifts for her kids, they just wanted to let her know they cared.
They didn't know her, she didn't know them, but they didn't stop coming.
I have never seen such a beautiful display of warmth and caring and community. I was so moved.
Philadelphia moms - you are amazing. Your community is a real inspiration.
