Kids saying shut up

Recent thing. One kid started then another kid... It's really bothering me. What are ways of dealing with this?

My mother used to say

"That's not allowed in this house!"

(we still sometimes said it. But not often)

That's what I've been doing. One of my kids told the other kid "I'm going to stop saying it" after I told them that in some houses parents put soap in the mouth for saying that. I told them that I wouldn't do it but just to understand the gravity of it.

Just keep repeating that we don't use that word, very seriously. Hopefully they will get the message that it is a no-go

I forgot. This good kid is mine also told me. "fine Mommy. So now I will just use the F word" (which he learned in school from the janitor!)

I'm worried that they will be start saying all kinds of things. Today I heard one kid calling another kid an idiot.

My kids have never talked like this before.
