I see by your poll that most people keep it on low look at the beans thread keeping it on warm might spoil the food. You only supposed to keep it on warm not more than few hours.

Out old crockpot switched to keep warm automatically after 12 hours but it was hot enough. Our new one is not electronic and we keep it on low.

If you keep it on low when do you turn it on? Does it ever go on high? Is the food not burned?

What I do is a keep it on high for six hours then turn it on keep warm.

I put mine up Friday morning and I keep it on high the whole day. It's ready enough to eat then. Right before shabbos I turn it to low.

It really means nothing since I make the same cholent all the time but my crockpot at home has to go on low for shabbos because on high it will burn and my crockpot upstate must stay on high since otherwise it will be watery and not well done.

On her crockpot it may be just fine. If she’s doing it for a while and no one has gotten sick I’m going to presume it’s hot enough.

If you specifically want to keep on low then after dh takes his portion erev shabbos I would add more water and mix and put on low.

Keep warm is not meant for long term cooking. The temp is not hot enough to kill bacteria.

The beans are still hard when I do that. And when I keep it on low over shabbos its burnt by shabbos lunch
