in NY if you're going to the DMV and renewing but also upgrading from a standard license to an enhanced license?

so you can't opt out? There's an option to renew by mail and find someone to give me a vision test and they'd use my old license picture, so why can't I opt out if I go in person to do the vision test and upgrade to enhanced license.

And on the bottom right there a chat button where you can ask a DMV employee your questions.

For some reason you can’t opt out in person . I always do it by mail and have been using the same picture from my permit, since I’m 17. (Almost two decades ….)

I have the same picture for over 30 years. Recently it caused a problem when I had to upload-it with a current selfie for verification. Computer could not accept it was same person.

Can you renew by mail and upgrade to enhanced?

I’m so curious why you don’t want to upgrade your picture.

I recently updated mine. Yon can’t do enhanced by mail.
