Is there a difference between the Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus versus the Amazon Fire 7?

I specifically need a tablet for my kids to use when we travel. What's the difference between the 2 and which one is better for games/movies while travelling?

I can't comment on the difference but I've had the 7 for my kids for years. For traveling we're able to download games and videos from Prime. However, the storage space is extremely low so I'm constantly having to delete things in order to download other things. Adding an SD card sometimes works, sometimes doesn't- it's finicky
This past trip (12 hour car ride) I actually bought an extra one so the kids could take turns watching/playing different games.
Bottom line, we make it work. And at around $50 (depending on sales) ends up be completely worth it.
