I’m curious what time what 14+ boys come home from Yeshiva every day out of Chassidish circles?
For no reason just interest.

9th grade Lakewood. Starts 7:45 so leaves the house at 7.
Màariv ends at 9:15.
Long bus ride home gets home close to 10. I've offered to pick him up but he actually likes the schmoozing on the bus as a time to unwind.

I know good boys who survived the system and I know it's been this way for years, but doesn't this sound like child abuse?

I thought so.
But my son loves it and is thriving. He isn’t sitting at a desk or over a Gemara 7-9

Mine does not.
All homework is done in yeshiva. All tests are studied for there.
He comes home at 10, eats a 2nd supper, plays or reads or fights with his siblings, schmoozes. Into the shower at 11 and in bed.

DS14 comes home after 9:30. He does not have any schoolwork to do in the evening. It really is not child abuse; they have plenty of breaks during the day and he absolutely loves being in yeshiva.

No. I feed them again. We shmooze. That’s it.
