Was so uncomfortable at the specialist today - in my head?

I was wondering if, in light of recent (tragic) headlines, and in a world where we as a community are slowly, tentatively, coming out with sensitive issues of abuse that are unfortunately very real, I perhaps "dreamed up" an uncomfortable encounter?

I bh have had five plus pregnancies and am usually able to compartmentalize in my brain when medically examined and usually am cool as a cucumber, even by my OBGYN, who has definitely checked me when I was modesty comprised( Very Happy ) etc. No big deal.

Today, I had a five year old who was with me (school was off - dw she wasn't sick) AND I was fully dressed and SITTING on a chair (as opposed to lying on a table where one can perhaps feel more comfortable) AND the door was open and I can't stop thinking about a fifteen minute exam that I had. For privacy reasons I don't want to say what type of specialist I was by, but suffice to say it was for an extremely neutral medical issue - one that I even felt comfortable letting my child color in the seat next to me (for lack of better child care options for this child who can be too challenging for her older siblings to watch). So like picture an ENT or Dentist or Eye doctor for ex.

But I can't function. He pulled up his chair so close-no personal space. He just was... creepy... I didn't like his stare. I don't know!

I almost want to file a complaint at the practice that says "your doctor made me so uncomfortable although technically he did zero wrong and I have no idea why I am wreck now".

My only thing I can think of is that I am thinking too much into it. But if my sister or good friend was using this doctor I would urge them to switch.

Any insights?

If you felt it then it was there.

If it felt creepy to you, don't go back. I don't think you can file a complaint though, if he didn't actually do anything concrete.

Some people just have weird or creepy personalities. I've seen many.
Doesn't mean it was something personal.
That being said if you didn't like the experience, don't go back.

I’ve felt uncomfortable by eye exams. Sometimes the doctor has to get so close to see inside the eye. I think that’s normal though even though I feel uncomfortable for a few seconds.
Was the doctor checking something very closely or do you feel he was just inappropriate?

I’ve had eye doctors and similar sitting uncomfortably close, but perhaps necessary for the examination. Never thought twice about it.

Your experience was real to you whether or not he was actually having creepy intention. I am always pro trusting your gut and intuition.
If you think he was not actually being creepy yet you felt uncomfortable because of other events perhaps think of what specifically seemed creepy. Was he wearing a mask? That may have contributed to him seeming creepy because the other facial expressions werent visible.

Thank you all for the validation. It was an eye exam - thank you lkwd lady! I go to the eye doctor every year but I think this felt different. He definitely glanced downwards a couple times instead of focusing on my eyes. (was wearing a turtleneck with blazer and he kept looking at my chest area?) And just acted very creepy. I think the main thing that made me uncomfortable is that he remained extremely close when explaining the eye issue I was encountering and what steps I can take to treat. He did not swivel back in his chair at all. I won't mention his name to anyone. But I personally won't go back.

Oh and he reminded me to schedule a follow up and remarked that it's best to stick to one optometrist so that the he can follow me closely (as in my eyes closely I hope!) I did not schedule a follow up. I am probably blowing this whole thing up so I apologize. I also realized that it's not nice of me to highlight such an inane encounter when people have suffered real abuse at the doctor - so I'm so sorry. The last thing I wanted with my post was to trigger anyone.

I've been to countless eye doctors and only one of them came too close and made me feel uncomfortable. All the others managed to do what's necessary in an appropriate way.
