What are some things to take it up a notch that aren't too complicated for someone who likes coffee but doesn't know much how to turn it into a specialty drink? And also not too caloric or unhealthy? As specific as possible please.

I don't know what you use for coffee now, but here are some ideas that make coffee taste really good

- buy whole beans, and grind them right before brewing your coffee. This is what we use in my house. I notice the coffee tastes fresher.
Aeropress (around $30 on Amazon)
Hario coffee grinder (also around $30)
- buy a sweetener/sauce, or make your own. This is the one I make. Whipping cream is dairy heavy cream.

- use whole milk instead of low-fat

A milk frother is a great upgrade.
Try replacing sugar with maple syrup- great caramelized flavor.
Top with cinnamon sugar.

Get yourself an aeroccino milk frother by Nespresso and make a latte by adding any flavour syrup, coffee and frothed warm milk. If you can afford the full nespresso machine it’s definitely worth it- I have to say it’s the best pod style coffee out there.
Another option for extra geshmak coffee is getting a French press you really get the full body flavour of the coffee.

stick a cinnamon stick into your hot coffee. that's my favorite. I sometimes rinse and later reuse the stick.

vanilla extract
hazelnut extract

My serious question is why?
Are you looking for a nice beverage to serve others? In that case, what do they like?

Anything you add will likely add fat/sugar/calories (with the exception of the cinnamon stick idea) make it more expensive and more work. Just wondering why you would look for that?
I can see if the situation was that you were at someone’s home and it was delicious and now you want to try, but why look randomly?

so where do you get your coffee beans if you don't use instant?
and do you grind it yourself?
or you buy ground 'uninstant' in the grocery?
