We discuss and discuss ideas for Purim each year,
[If we gave up our themes, would you really care?]
Someone comes up with an idea they think will be great,
Another disagrees and we begin the debate:
“How do you make a costume for that to portray?”
Or “what foods can you give with that, there’s nothing, no way”.
Then we’re back where we started and must brainstorm some more,
But we truly enjoy it, it’s not such a chore.
This year was a tough one, we kept going round and round,
We each had an idea, but with no common ground.
Then we decided we would compromise,
We’d each choose a theme and do what is wise.
We’d have a modern גורל and let Hashem choose,
Now we finally agreed, there was nothing to lose.
So what’s a modern גורל? It’s one with a twist…
All you need are fingers, hand and a fist.
We’d play “ROCK, SCISSORS, PAPER” it would be winners choice,
Then we looked at each other and said in one voice,
“That’s it! We got it! And we can all agree,
ROCK, SCISSORS, PAPER is what we will be!”
Shalach Manos foods was next on the agenda,
We needed to decide what foods to send ya.
For ROCKS we have candy, ROCK candy to be clear.
The PAPER needs imagination, which we will share.
Fruit roll ups are not what we call PAPER thin,
But they are attached to PAPER so that’s where we win.
We didn’t forget the SCISSORS, make no mistake,
There are SCISSOR shaped cookies which we did bake.
Not quite done, there was this Megillah to write,
To tie it up together, all nice and tight.
And last but not least, it’s time we end our spiel,
And go on to the next mitzvah-our Purim meal.
So we bid adieu, and a freilichen Purim to you
