I've been having a very hard time davening and I'm struggling with depression. I was speaking to my DH and telling him about my struggles with davening and he suggested that I sing my tefilos. I enjoy singing and it helps me connect spiritually to Hashem.

I am looking for ideas of songs from tehillim that I can use. I think I would like both uplifting (when I'm feeling good) and sad or yearning.

(please tell me which tune or singer you are recommending-not just the words).

Another old one, don't know who sings it, think old camp kumzitz songs...
Min Hametzar - the high part goes Hashem li, Hashem li lo irah, Ma yaaseh li ma yaaseh li adam...
That make sense or sound familiar?

ETA: Found it! Track 3 of this album:
https://mostlymusic.com/produc.....53591
You can only listen to the first few seconds without buying. It's actually the high part that speaks to me...

I love the idea. I have found that different pesukim and tunes speak to me at different times, based on what's going on in my life at the time. (I especially love the pesukim and songs in Hallel.)
Here are some:
Moshe Goldman has many songs on tehillim- Odeh Hashem, Al ta'azveini, Lulei Sorascha.
I also love Carlebach's Lulei Sorascha. I could sing it endlessly. So much longing and feeling...
Ahallelah Hashem (Skulen)
Ana Hashem (Carlebach)
Shesulim b'veis Hashem (I think it's Rabbi's Sons)
Tefilla l'ani ki ya'atof (Abish Brodt)
Another one of my absolute favorites- Maskil L'dovid (Perek 142). I don't know whose song it is originally, but I believe Shloimy Daskal sings it. The words and the tune just express the deepest despair, pain, and aloneness (read the rest of the chapter to fully understand), but channels all that into tefilla and reliance on Hashem. Moshe Goldman also has a song to this perek. He starts from Passuk Hei, and he really goes through the range of emotions from pain and abandonment, through the stirring of hope (passuk zayin), through the upbeat reassurance that salvation is near (passuk ches).

I recommended mostly chassidish singers. If that is not your genre, please reply asking for other ideas. As you may have noticed, your question touched on a passion of mine, and I can offer lots more suggestions...!

Wow amother Hibiscus these are amazing! I love Tefilah L'ani and Maskil L'Dovid. And anything Hallel related!
OP, you really got me back on memory lane...
I've been listening to a lot of English music lately (Baruch Levine's Off the Record, some newer songs...) I didn't realize how much the real Tehillim based songs touch me and what I've been missing till I went to do my dishes now and found myself singing old songs like Tov Lehodos and Esa Einai... Hinei lo yanum...
Thanks for the inspiration, will be checking back here!

Amother Hibiscus, what a great list! I'm more litvish than chassidish so I would love to see a list of more litvish singers/songs if you are able.

Yessss lulei is one of the songs we sing to my 2 year old daughter at bed time every night. She loves it. We can sing it over and over again. We do shma, hamalach, and lulei.

happytobemom was right on with where I remember Min haMeytzar being from: D'veykus VI. Also, hibiscus had a good suggestion with Sh'sulim b'veis Hashem, but isn't it from Kol Salonika?

Here's a part of nighttime Sh'ma that may be particularly inspiring for you to sing even during your day. Problem: I do not know of any tune to which anyone has yet put the words Hashem ma rabu tzarai. Maybe you would care to give it a go. Or if you'd like, I would be happy to come up with a melody myself. Just PM me either way if you're interested. Hatzlacha.

OP, I'm also struggling with depression. I haven't been able to bring myself to sing or even listen to inspirational songs from davening or Tehillim, though. I mostly end up singing or saying the most desperate and dark parts.

Last night I was up at 3 AM and this is what showed up on the paper:

But... I can give you some recommendations from my better moments.
