Sometimes wonder if we live on the lowest budget out there. Our expenses are tops 3500 a month including everything and I sometimes wish id get some recognition and appreciation for it as a wife since it doesn't come natural to me to be frugal.

By 7 I mean 5 kids and2 adults

I'm guessing you are on government programs and very cheap housing and schooling.
Or it might just be magic

Wow! That is amazing. Can you break that down? Does that include housing and education/childcare?

Family of 8 kah. Even with benefits, our average monthly budget is more than that.

Transportation-either car/gas or cabs or bus/subway fare.
Do you have insurance/either life or renters?
Is all your school/childcare free?
Do you pay water? Laundry?

You have made me realize that I can never ever ever retire.
Even when my mortgage is paid up, between property tax/maintaining my home-gas/electric/water… car insurance and gas, healthcare…. And there will be no social security left. 😭😭

Not op, but I live in Brooklyn and my transportation cost is next to nothing. No car, everything local. Subway for basically dr (specialists) appts and very occasionally shopping/trips.

Op, you haven't mentioned clothes and household stuff. And tuition/childcare.

I will say that 800 on food is amazing and 35 on electricity.. How?

My rent is actually similar to yours.

Op mentioned that she gets food stamps, so $800 in addition to food stamps is actually a lot!

Family of five. 3 kids, 2 adults. Our expenses are probably about $30,000 a month. I know we spend, but nothing crazy and some of these numbers seem impossible.

We live in Brooklyn, same size family.
Just mortgage (including insurance and taxes) is $3,500!!!
Tuition around $3,000
Food, $1,000+
Cars/insurance/gas- we pay for one and one is from work, so around $300
Utilities $500
Cellphones $100
Clothes/ daipers/misc $300-$500, varies monthly
Health insurance- bh we get from work, otherwise that could easily be another couple of thousand...
Cleaning help- varies, but about $200
Camps- we've been paying for camps/day camps for the past few months, since camps split up the payments. Around $600
Gifts for simchas we go to- I'd say it averages $300 a month.
There might be more expenses, can't remember at the moment.
