Is regular fish food problematic on Pesach? If it is, what do you feed your fish?

Dh recently asked his rav about it (chassidish), and was told that he can't feed them chometz food.

Yes. Get brine shrimp, live or dehydrated, instead.

Yup, they're dried and crinkly, not wiggly, and our fishies do love them.

I had friends who kept a (pet) fish shop. They said that the fish could survive quite happily for a week without any food. They used to feed the fish erev Pesach and then leave them for a week, and they never lost any stock.
They would tell this to everyone who called them about fish food for Pesach, but a lot of people were very unhappy with the idea, so they eventually started carrying Pesach food for those who wanted it.
I don't know if there's any difference between different species.

Depends on the breed. Betta fish needs to be fed every 2-3 days. My friend get a vacation feeder. It's like a tablet and it releases every day.

We used to feed our fish Kosher for Pesach Matzoh Meal. I guess not too much so it is all
eaten and does not turn into chometz.
Maybe fish can eat potato starch lady finger crumbs for one week.

Thanks everyone for your help!
