We are BH expecting a girl in a few weeks. Both of our grandmothers were named Miriam, but both were niftar young, so we want to add a name to it.

Another grandmother was niftar this week unfortunately- we can’t give her name (Esther) but maybe would like to honor her someway.

So our options are: Nechama Miriam (as a comfort), or Hadassa Miriam (Hadassa for Esther)…

Any other suggestions? Maybe something to do with sefira? We are heimish, for reference.

Miriam Leah
Miriam Esther (which you said you can't use)
Miriam Baila
Sarah Miriam
Rochel Miriam

Hadassa Miriam ( or Miriam hadassa) is a lovely tribute. As far as adding a name when it’s for a person who died young , AFAIK any addition is considered to change the mazel. Ask your lor and bishaa tova !

How about Ahuva? I find Nechama to be so somber and painful but Ahuva adds such a nice tribute.

Hadassa Miriam is the obvious choice as a substitute for Esther. (Just like the way that sounds better than Miriam Hadassa)

And they are beautiful names.

I don't know if this speaks to you but I have a cousin named
Efrat Miriam
because Miriam is called "Efrat" in Divrei Hayamim.
I think it's a lovely combination, which emphasizes Miriam's role in bringing to life all the Jewish babies in Mitzrayim.
