I did not grow up with Mother’s Day being celebrated. Over the last few years I’ve gotten “happy Mother’s Day” wishes from people I work with. How does this go- you wish happy Mother’s Day to “Mothers” you respect? Or what?

I grew up with Mothers Day being a big deal. We sent cards to my grandmothers, gifts for my mom, wishing everyone we know who is a mother a happy mothers day.
Now I live in Israel where it's totally not a thing, but I try to remember to wish my American family and friends a Happy Mother's Day on the day.
